The ragdoll breed began in 1963 in Riverside, california with a white cat named Josephine. Josephine was an angora type, domestic non pedigreed cat with long white fur. She had many litters of kittens but after an accident while she was pregnant, Ann Baker remarked that the kittens produced were very docile and placid and she became very interested in her. Ann worked with Josephine's kittens to continue developing the breed into what it is today.
The Ragdoll cat is best known for its docile and loving nature. One of the largest cat breeds, Ragdolls are large and imposing with soft and silken semi long fur and bright blue eyes. They are the most popular cat breed in the world and with good reason. Ragdolls truly are brilliant family members with a gentle and curious nature.
We take great interest in maintaining and preserving the original features of the Ragdoll. We delve into the history contained in our cat's pedigrees in order to understand and improve their heritage.
